Grown in the highlands of Nyeri County, Kenya, this AA-grade coffee is sourced from small, family-owned farms surrounding the Njuriga Factory (wet mill). These producers typically manage half-acre plots planted with about 250 coffee trees, intercropped with banana, Grevillea, and macadamia trees to support biodiversity and improve cup quality.
The farmers are members of the Aguthi Farmers Cooperative Society (FCS). After harvest, the cherries are fully washed and meticulously dried on raised beds, a processing method that preserves the coffee’s vibrant acidity, crisp structure, and fruit clarity.
Roaster’s Note:
This lot offers a clean and articulate profile with bright, layered acidity and silky sweetness. The washed process and careful drying bring out notes of raspberry, orange zest, and delicate floral tones, rounded by a creamy mouthfeel and lingering finish. Excellent for both filter and modern espresso approaches.
Recommended Brew Methods:
To showcase its clarity and complexity, we recommend using pour-over methods such as V60, Kalita Wave, or Chemex. For espresso, a light roast and extended ratio reveal its elegant acidity and smooth body beautifully.
