Famous Grouse Finest. By appointment to her Majesty the Queen. 100% Premium Blend of Scotch Whiskies by Mathew Gloag & Son Ltd. Matured in seasoned oak casks and bottled in Scotland. It was in 1896 that Perthshire grocer and wine merchant Matthew Gloag first created his whisky. Unconventional from the start, he named his whisky after an iconic Scottish bird, rather than himself, and so the Grouse Brand was born. It was the popularity of the whisky, together with the quality of the liquid, which led to the success of his whisky - which was the reason he added the word "Famous" to the name in 1905.
