The Fire Tree The Girl With Golden Eyes: The Fire Tree Series - Book 2, Book 2, (Paperback)

In the year 1622 in Scotland, the Laird Grant encounters what he believes to be an apparition of a little girl in a meadow. Before long, he realises that she is entirely real. He gives her the name 'Wild Flower'. Fascinated by an old family tale about a girl who appears out of nowhere in that very meadow, he eagerly engages her as a companion for his granddaughter.

His granddaughter, Logan, is spiteful & mean to the newcomer, but Wild Flower is unrelentingly kind & sweet in response and eventually wins her friendship. Little does Logan realise what the future holds for her. With the help of Wild Flower she will fulfil her glorious destiny to become a legendary swordsman. Or should that be swordswoman? To her surprise, whenever she transforms into her alter ego, her eyes change colour!

The Laird Grant is approached by a pair of cunning & scheming envoys from the Royal Court of King James. The men wish to obliterate the benign influence of Queen Annis on the Western Highlands of Scotland. The Laird Grant, whose Clan has had a feud with the queen for centuries, agrees to help them. This, however, sets in motion a train of momentous events with dramatic consequences.

Will the queen live or will she die? Will the Highlands be plunged into a catastrophic civil war? When the moment comes that the laird's Irish Sergeant-at-Arms is forced to make a stark choice between good and evil, how will he respond?

The future of Scotland will depend on the bravery of an Irishman with an attitude and of the mysterious girl with golden eyes.
